Our campaign to protect Lindow Moss is a collaborative effort with residents and environmental activists. Since the General Election campaign of 2019, I have been working with a local group of concerned citizens, making sure that the owners fulfil their responsibilities to look after the land, and that any housing development is kept to a minimum. Our campaign is ongoing, and I have met with Professor John Handley to learn more about the pivotal role that Lindow Moss plays in the local ecology, so that I can play my role in keeping the public informed. This year, with the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the Lindow Man, Tatton Liberal Democrats will join events and continue to raise awareness. Please get in touch if you wish to join our efforts.

Our campaign to stop the development of 225 houses at Longridge in Knutsford was a huge success and demonstrates the importance of joined up local action central to Liberal Democrat politics. Following a guided tour of the proposed housing development site by Save Longridge Greenbelt campaigner, John Finnan, four-and-a-half years of tireless campaigning culminated in a unanimous rejection of the planning application at the December 2023 Cheshire East Strategic Panning Board. The Liberal Democrats funded, and delivered, 1,600 leaflets, and helped to set up a public meeting, where more than 100 local people attended. At that meeting, I was the only politician who made a speech, and was one of only six people invited to speak against the planning application when it came before the Board. Now, I continue to keep a close eye on what might happen next including working with local residence on the possibility of turning the site into a nature reserve.
